Persepolis
I highly recommend seeing this rich animated film. It's a moving account of a female protagonist's experience in Iran and Europe before and after the Islamic Revolution. The principle character shares her complex narrative that also reminded me of the lack of diverse cinematic representation in the US.
I cried three times during the film. Now, the storytelling had to be outstanding to make me cry during an animated scene.
