Mourning Peter Pan

Two iconic, popular cultural figures passed today. When the security guard in my lobby broke the news of Jackson's death, my impulse reaction was to ask if it had been a suicide. I was in disbelief that the passage of time had made MJ a vulnerable middle-aged man. Farrah Fawcett's and Michael Jackson's mediated images are frozen in our memories of youth. MTV is dead. Our youth is over.
