Anbar's shoe store is something of an institution in Lower Manhattan but now it's going out of business. At lunchtime I fought the crowds to see what was left of their inventory. Female shoppers were frantically looking for a treasure trove of shoes to claim their own. Girls with a 9 1/2 or larger shoe size were mostly out of luck. I compensated with cheap, colorful belts for $4 a piece.
On Sunday as I boarded the local bus on my way to Goodwill on W79th street, the female bus driver complemented me on my sandals show here.
